Librarian's gift to a NH university is philanthropy at its best and brightest

Robert Dorin graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1963 and worked there in the library for the rest of his life. The fact that he left the school $4M is surprising, wonderful and life-affirming. This is what philanthropy is all about.

Hey cyclists, runners and walkers - the boardwalk across the Harahan will open in October!

You won't be able to cross the Harahan Bridge boardwalk  for a few months, but a new website is sure to keep the anticipation high til then.

Last week's launch of coincided with the 10oth anniversary of the historic Harahan, and establishes the official name and brand of the boardwalk.

At just over a mile in length, the Big River Crossing will be the longest public pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi River. It serves as the centerpiece he multi-million-dollar Main to Main Intermodal Connector Project linking downtown Memphis with West Memphis.

The Big River Crossing will officially open with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 22. Gates will open at 1 p.m. followed by an all-day celebration on both sides of the bridge in Tom Lee Park and in Delta Regional Park.
